(Week 15) Post 10: Evaluation of your Blogging Experience

Hello everyone, today I'm here to talk about my blogging experience, that is my experience posting weekly a relatively short text about different topics and telling my opinion about them.

In the first place, in think that the experience was very good, specially because our teacher was very understanding about our workload in the University and give us many chances to have a great experience blogging and writing comments.

Despite I'm somewhat talented writing in English, I have also many doubts of some words that are strange for me, so the blogging experience helped me to learn and enrich my vocabulary and perfect the formulation of some sentences.

I would like to be included in the future the possibility to have a feedback of our teachers, and maybe some time to correct again some expressions that would be formulated badly, but in general the blogging experience is very good.

In the future I would like to write a blog about my Biography, about my life and how I get to study my profession, make a Curriculum Vitae to postulate to some international work, and maybe post the investigations that I would make in the areas that today I'm interested.

Well, here is the end of my English Learning Experience, but I also hope to keep studying English in the future and perfect it to a high level, I hope that English became my second language and then study many others languages to travel around the world.

(Week 13) Post 9: How Green Are You?

Hello friends, today I'm going to talk about sustainable and environmentally friendly ways of living, in Chile we usually learn these practices in schools, specially in the course of "Technology Education", where we learn a lot of renewable energies and ways to make less damage to the world.

I try to use less disposable things in my life, trying to use recyclable and reusable packages like glass and returnable bottles, I also use the public transport preferring the subway and bicycle, I prefer that instead of using car, and also because I don't have a car, but if I had it I would share it with other people who take the same travel as I.

I actually don't support any organization but not because I'm not friendly with them but I don't have money to support them. In the future I would to have a green house that uses renewables energies to produce electricity and heat, I would like too to have a vegetable garden to produce my own organic food.

Santiago is not a very "green" place, is most grey, and the green places are far away in the hightown, I think that every place in Santiago should have green squares and not the polution that it has everywhere, the high quantity of cars, the Transantiago, the industries and many other things have to change, I hope Santiago don't get so poluted like other cities.

I would like someday to go to a place in the south of Chile, where all is full of green, and acheive my dreams.

(Week 12) Post 8 "My favorite Subject this Semester"

Today I'm going to talk about my favourite subject in this semester: Simulations, this subject is about a preclinical experience of our future as a dentist, we make different works in simulated heads and mouths, even they have cheeks.

We have to restore teeth, make cavities for different restorations like amalgams and resins, and others bigger to insert incrustations, this material is for dental operation.

We also have other dental fields like periodontics, where we have to clean teeth and keep the gums healthy, we also have the subject 'fixed prosthodontics' where we have to restore some teeth that are almost completely destroyed, even when the inside of teeth is infected, we have to clean and seal the pulp in a technique called endodontics.

We have many teacher who make classes and in the preclinical practice we have an specialist teacher each day of the week, so we can learn different ways to face each trouble we could have in our future practice.

I think that is an amazing way to approach to what we are going to do in the future, specially in the new curriculum because the higher grade student had to wait until third year to practice in pre-clinic but since our generation we are going to face real people in that year, also I think that is amazing the different specialities in odontology, and how they are different but complement in the integral treatment of the oral cavity.

The next subject are the in clinic, with real patients, that will be a great challenge to myself, I hope that the experience to be fantastic.

I think that saving money it´s an important thing because the price of stuff its very high and we have to save money to be capable of having all the things we need in the month.

I think that compulsive spenders are a common kind of people, because in our country we are continuously exposed to publicity, and we are socially pressed to buy many kind of things to fulfil our empty needs for material stuff. I think that the existence of compulsive spenders is a bad thing to our world because they buy things that they don’t need, they change every year their stuff for the new model, creating a big waste of material that degrades our environment.

Actually in the dental profession we have many troubles to face including the high prices in the treatments to our patients and materials we have to buy, in difference to other professions, we have to buy huge quantity of materials and instruments, and continuously buy all kind of supplies. In Chile, the dental care is expensive and almost a luxury to the common people, the government doesn't finance it through FONASA as in the medical practice.

(week 11) Post 7: SUMMER PLANS

Today I'm going to write about my future plans and ideas that I have for my summer, when I finish my semester I want to work in the new year at Hotel W, to earn some money that I want to use in backpacking to the south of Chile.

I want to do this backpacking with my girlfriend, I had already backpaked before in 2013 with some friend but this time we are going to go by ourselves only.

I want to visit different places starting in Los Angeles and travel to the south to Valdivia, where I want to go to Niebla Bay and test the Kuntsmann Beer, I want to camp right there for 2 days, then I want to go to Osorno, where my girlfriend has many familiars, they live in a country house, where they have many animals like cows, pigs, chicken and geese, they make a magnific food from the organic garden they have.

From there I wish to travel to the Puyehue Volcano, visit Entrelagos, and after that go to the shore of the Llanquihue Lake, visiting Puerto Octay, Frutillar and Puerto Varas, eating some delicious german style küchens, then I will backpack to Osorno and travel in bus to Santiago, I have already bought the tickets.

The backpacking will take place between January 7 and 21, then I will stay in Santiago and have some fun partying and relaxing from studying, having large snaps, maybe I could go to Algarrobo, where my uncles have a beach house a and enjoy the ocean, eat some Palmeras, breath pure air.

(Week 10) PET Practice: Session 1

For me the more challenging skill was listening, because sometimes is hard to understand some words without its context and some words sound so similar.

Two task were harder, the listening and reading some common text, sometimes I can't comprehend the meaning of some short text that are used in some common context, for example the name of some traffic signs, but if I guide with an image of what they mean, is easy to me to understand them.

Also one of the most challenging thing is the listening, the pronunciation of some people is very confusing, they mix some words, some syllables are mixed too, but is easy to me to get accustomed to the accent in English. The easier thing to my is writing, also in Spanish is easy to me, more than talking I prefer the writing task :)

(Week 9) Post 6: My best Friends

Hello everyone, today I'm going to talk about my friends in my life, I don't have many friend, but they are very special, the oldest is from my childhood, so far I don't have many contact with him because of our universities, he studies gastronomy and don't have many time, we used to stay in my house together and play video games until morning every weekend, buy pizzas and have a good time, but since we came in the university we don't have many time to spend playing or even talking about life.

We are friends so many years that I don't have memories of when I met him because I was a baby when our mother became friends, so is like we were friends since always, having pictures from the 4 or 5 year, he is actually finishing his studies so I hope that in holidays we will have time to have fun together.

I do also met many friend in the university, they are from a younger generation than me because I delayed some subjects the year I get in the university, and the University give me the chance to change my curriculum for the new one, so recently this year I take all the subjects with they so we became friends, is great to have fiends in the university, we have great times doing the work, and enjoying the time that is left. I hope that we will continue being friends until the day I complete my professional education.

(Week 7) Post 5: My Future Job

Hello dears, today I'm going to write a little about my future job, as you know I'm actually studying Dentistry, and I hope to graduate soon, from there I want to keep studying a specialization course or PhD, but we had to work in the Public Service some years.

I would to work in a place far away from the city, like the south of Chile, from there I would like to help the communities that live there and teach them about medicine and oral care, my work would be outdoor as indoors, in my own dental consultation and going to schools to teach about health care, also I would like to work in different places of Chile, go all over the places that doesn't have access to dental practice and give them simple works.

Also in the future I would like to study the specialization of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, this is an specialization of dentistry about treating many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the Oral (mouth) and Maxillofacial (jaws and face) region, I like this specialty because they make amazing surgeries like head and neck cancer, reconstructions, they remove impacted teeths like thirds molars, they make the insertions for dental implants and many other things, I think that all that works are very delicate and important to the people.

(Week 6) Post 4 - TV Shows and series

Hello dear classmates and teacher, today I'm going to talk about my favourite TV Series. I have actually many favourite series but I have and special one and is called Game of Thrones, this series is an American drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss as an adaptation of the books series "A Song of Ice and Fire" from George R. R. Martin and made by the HBO.

I like this series very much because they film in many places like Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, Northern Ireland, Spain, Scotland and the United State, explaining different stories about a civil war where several noble houses fight to ge the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, the series have and amazing plot, complex characters, and frequently nudity and violence, I like that they show every kind of thing in the series because they show how reality is.

I also like the way that we get enchanted on every character and we suffer when they die, and the way that the characters fight for power and do anything they can to reach it. The things dad I enjoy the most in series is the intelligence of the characters, how they can escape from the danger in a smart way and be safe from bad things.

I like too series like Breaking Bad, where a teacher get involved in the production of drugs, I also like zombies themed series like Walking Dead, I don't actually watch this series but I would like to watch in holidays.

(Week 3) Post 1 - Country I would like to go

Today is staring a new semester and a new level of English in my Faculty, I'm going to talk about a

place I would like to visit, I would like to go to many diferents countries in the world but my prefered is Russia, especially Saint Petersburg, because is an amazing city full of historic places and beautiful landscapes.

This place is the second greater city in Russia after Moscow, it has had different names through history like Petrograd and Leningrad depending of the time of the history, it was created by Tzar Peter the Great on 1703 and it was two times the capital of Russia.

Is considered one of the major cultural center and the most important port of Russia to the Baltic Sea, is commonly know of being the european entrance to Russia. The Neva river flows through the center of the city which frozen in winter, with temperatures of -5° C and 15 in summer.

I would like to explore the city, the monuments, museum and important places over there, I would like to taste the food and drinks of this zone and go to parties and celebrations that occur there. But especially I would like to study and live there, firstly because I love cold weather and the architecture of the city, I would to study the Russian language and culture, and maybe work there.
